Condolences to Rogers family on the passing of a fine man and committed academic. We interacted a lot as Honours students in Political Science at the University of Melbourne, 1963-66, including in tutorials for combined colleges, and subsequently as part time tutors ourselves. I was most impressed that Roger subscribed to the Guardian Weekly even in first year. Vale Roger.

New comment from Judy Brett on Roger Neil Douglas PhD, Prof.Em.:I have fond memories of Roger tutoring me in Modern Government A in 1967 when I was a non-resident student at St Hilda's. The tutorials were in his room in Queen's and we were a small group. Together with teaching by Tony Staley, David Kemp and John Helmer, his tutorials hooked me into a life of studying politics. Thank you Roger.
Marc Trabsky — 17 March 2025
My since condolences to Rogers family and friends. I met Roger on my first day at La Trobe, when he took me out for coffee. He was a gifted scholar and generous colleague and mentor. He will be greatly missed.
David Dunt — 17 March 2025
Vale Roger! I first met Roger at state primary school and reconnected later at university. He was a true intellectual, always willing to talk about politics and social issues more generally. He was nd of a kind and will be missed.David Dunt

Roger was an extraordinary scholar, a humble colleague and a very approachable academic for his students. His intellectual contributions to his field were outstanding but he was also a person who epitomised high moral character. It was a privilege to know him first as his student, then as his colleague.
Magda Karagiannakis — 16 March 2025
Roger was a brilliant scholar and a wonderful and generous colleague, mentor and friend. His incisive wit was second to none. A great human and a gentle man. His profound influence on those around him reverberates. Im so lucky and grateful to have known him.

My sincere condolences to Robin and all of Rogers family and friends. Roger was not just an extraordinary legal scholar and teacher, he was also a valued mentor of junior colleagues, guiding us in the complex ways of the modern university. He was unfailingly and rigorously fair to all, especially his students. His spirit and wit brightened our days at Latrobe. May he rest in peace.
Savitri Taylor — 16 March 2025
My deepest sympathy to Robin and other members of Roger's family on his passing. I cannot think of more fitting words to describe Roger than the final words of the funeral notice. "A man of integrity, a scholar and a gentleman". It was my great privilege to have been his colleague for many years until his retirement. May he rest in peace.
