To Eileen and family, Tony was a genuinely lovely man who shared his news and wanted to know our news. Catching up withTony and Eileen since we met at Beacon Caravan Park sometime last century has always been enjoyable. Tony was a great networker who would call in whenever he was in the area. The thoughts and prayers of the McKays are with you.

I had the pleasure of knowing Tony from his many visits to my workplace to either offer his help or drop in to see Eileen. All who knew the man would agree he loved a yarn, he could talk the ears off of an elephant. But the main thing I know everyone would agree is, you only needed to have a brief interaction with him and you would walk away and think to yourself what a good bloke he was. His heart was as big as his height, his laugh as strong as his mite, lets not forget his beam of a smile. Tony would come over to talk for a minute and yarn for a while. Long will he be missed, even longer will he be remembered. My deepest condolences to Eileen and family.

Tony, a very thoughtful friend. He and Eileen generously brought Pat to Gippsland for lunches with us. Even when he was dying, he had hoped to bring Pat down for one last visit. Whenever we were in Melbourne we were always offered a bed.Our C ROW antics always saw Tony more than willing to dress up and contribute to our fun activities. (We were even married by Tony).Tony showed enormous courage in the way he handled his impending death. Bill asked if there was anything we could do to assist, he replied, support Eileen.Fond memories of a good friend" catch you up down the road mate, Sue and Bill

Tony was always a happy man. We think the reason he was so happy & content was because all he ever wanted or needed was exactly what he had. Safe journey Tony.

Dear Eileen and FamilyTony was larger than life and always ready to help others. It was very stoic and much appreciated for Tony to come along to ST Thomas' CBC Clifton Hill old boys reunion luncheon only 4 weeks ago.He was very jovial as always and chatted with his class mates.I like many was in the same classroom with Tony for 11 years. We all started at St John's Clifton Hill 1955 and finished in 1965 at CBC St Thomas' just across the road.I sent out an email to 45 fellow classmates and have received many expression of fun times spent at school with Tony and requests to pass on our sincere and heartfelt condolences to you Eileen and your family.Personally I recall many battles and rivalry with Tony when I was Court Captain and Junior Secretary at View Bank Tennis Club as we did battle with St Bernadette's Tennis Club in men's and junior tennis. I was luck to catch up with Tony many times during the 10 years I lived in Ivanhoe.Leonard PearsellCBC St Thomas' Clifton Hill

Gwenda & Robert Byron — 5 September 2022
Tony was a big man with a big heart. A few years ago we needed extra help in our family business and Tony volunteered to do deliveries for us. After that, if he was in the area picking up supplies for his business, he would pop in for a "quick" tea/coffee and a chat which would last for some time as he proudly updated us on his family and always remembered to ask about ours. The phone calls to discuss footy his Bears and our Magpies or to let us know of something he had heard that might help us. He was very concerned about us being able to close our business and retire as he had done and he was genuinely happy that we had recently closed the business and were looking forward to retirement. Our loving thoughts are with you Eileen and your family.

Tony will be missed by his family and friends, and also by the community of which he was such an integral part. Every year, Tony, his two sons Greg and Stephen, and I would deliver phone books around Ivanhoe. Everyone knew Tony, and called out greetings to us, and the area felt like one interconnected and friendly place. It was a happy memory among many others. I am sure many people feel the same.
Marita van Gemert — 5 September 2022
Tony was such a generous person. When my future son in law, Edward Doyle moved from Ireland to live in Australia, Tony gave him his first job, as a labourer with Tonys tennis business. Constantly thinking of you all, Eileen, Stephen, Gregory, Sarah, Joan and all the extended family.
