Lachlan Hurse — 23 February 2024

On behalf of the Brisbane Branch of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society we send our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Joan. Our members remember her as a feisty, determined person who dedicated herself to socialism and the workers' cause. We saw how Cuba was a beacon for Joan, providing a real-life example of how a better world is possible, and that the defence of the Cuban Revolution was of critical importance to her. We will remember her passion, humour and comradeship.
