I knew of Q before I came to Melbourne, and then he became part of my professional life on and off over the past 25 years, especially during the Bushfires Royal Commission. What a great companion he was. Funny, warm, witty, urbane, caring, clever, wise, and with an acid disdain for the frequent idiocy displayed by the public service and government. I came away from every encounter with him refreshed. To lose him when he had so much more living to do is so bloody unfair to him and to the rest of us. We will never forget you, Q.
