Sincere condolences to Elizabeth and family for the loss of their beloved and remarkable Don. I have such fond memories of him. He took me to lunch at his Athenaeum Club many years ago, when we were both working at the Victorian Government Solicitor's Office. He would often stop by for a chat in my office during that time and regale me with stories of his latest advocacy and incisive cross-examination in his crimes compensation cases. The State was lucky to have him appearing on its behalf. I will always remember a fascinating man with so many different aspects to him - a truly cultured and talented man who related so well to everyone who had the good fortune to cross his path. He was interesting because he was interested in people. He is a shining example of how to live life to the full. I was unfortunately interstate and unable to attend the funeral but saw the video. It was a most fitting tribute to a rich and 'operatic' life, and a truly unique individual. RIP Don.
