McAllister, Moyra
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Moyra McAllister on the 17 February 2024. Moyra was a compassionate and caring woman, who fiercely fought for all those who needed help and support and to create a world that put people before anything else. Born in Derry on the 8 August 1943 to Mary and Albert, Moyra grew up in Northern Ireland and forged a formidable path for women and girls who want to study the sciences but ultimately found her passion in books and libraries where she worked for over 50 years. Moyra married her life partner Trevor in 1967 and is mother to Andrew and Richard, mother-in-law to Wendy and Kerry, sister to Alasdair, Brian and Bruce and proud grandmother of James(dec), Sean, Georgia, Liam, Robert, Natasha, Lachlan, Jack and Haylee.
Warm and heartfelt thanks to the staff at Royal Melbourne Hospital ICU, Stroke Team and palliative care for their guidance and care of mum and her family in her final days.
A memorial service for Moyra will be held on Saturday (24 February 2024) at 3:30pm (formalities start at 4pm), at the Atheneum Library, 188 Collins St, Melbourne.
For those who cannot attend, the service will be Live Streamed via the 'View Event video' link to be added in the grey box below as soon as possible.
